A video of a man confronting another man after the latter was caught on camera urinating in front of the Mumtaz Indian Restaurant in Plano, Texas went viral — bringing shame to the Indian community as many social media users claimed that he was an Indian — a staff of the Indian restaurant. As a major row started over the video at a time when anti-India sentiment in Texas is at its peak, some social media users claimed that many Pakistanis use ‘Indian’ in the name of their businesses and there is no way to know whether the man was an Indian or a Pakistani only from the video. However, the act of urinating in public was condemned. The man, when he was caught urinating by Ryan Dawson, who posted it on his Instagram, said he urinated in the open because he could not hold it. Dawson asked why he was not using the bathroom inside the restaurant. “The door is locked,” the man said.

Dawson who goes by Instagram handle @2groovystudios said he has his studio just right above where the incident took place. “I own a studio right above him. Your crazy if you think I’m letting him expose himself and piss where I do business and have clients. Unacceptable behavior and it’s a damn shame you stand for any of that. Wrong is wrong,” Dawson wrote as the comment section asked him why white men are always in somebody else’s business with a camcorder. “Okay but what if he can’t hold it due to health reasons? And someone was in the only bathroom they have? He’s elderly, he could’ve literally not been able to hold it,” one wrote trying to find if there was any justification for the man’s action. “He is one of the managers of the establishment. they have bathrooms inside. And being elderly or incontinent is literally no excuse to expose yourself in a public space where you KNOW there are people around. There is no health reason that justifies public urination,” Dawson wrote adding that the Plano police gave the man a verbal warning.
