HP Home Guard recruitment 2026: Registration begins for 700 posts at himachal.nic.in; direct link to apply here

The Himachal Pradesh Home Guards, Civil Defence, Fire and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Department has started the online registration process for the recruitment of 700 Home Guard volunteers. Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official website himachal.nic.in. The last date to apply is March 31, 2026 (11:59 pm).According to the official advertisement issued on February 23, 2026, the recruitment will be conducted for several categories including general duty, drivers, bandmen and technical trades.

Vacancy details

A total of 700 posts will be filled through this recruitment drive. The category-wise vacancy distribution is as follows:

  • General Duty (Men): 358 posts
  • General Duty (Women): 167 posts
  • Bandmen: 74 posts
  • Drivers: 76 posts
  • Technical trades: 25 posts

Technical trade vacancies include posts such as electrician, plumber, pharmacist, carpenter, tailor, steno and armourer. These vacancies are distributed across different districts including Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Chamba, Hamirpur, Una, Solan, Kangra and others.

Eligibility criteria

Educational qualificationFor General Duty posts, candidates must have passed 10+2 (Class 12) from a board recognised by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) or a recognised board under the University Grants Commission (UGC). For Technical Company/Platoon posts, the minimum qualification is Matriculation (Class 10) along with the relevant technical certificate from an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) recognised by the Himachal Pradesh government.Age limitCandidates must be between 18 and 50 years of age. Physical standardsMale candidates (General category):

  • Height: 5 feet 6 inches
  • Chest: 31–32 inches

Female candidates (General category):

  • Height: 5 feet 2 inches
  • Relaxation in height is provided for candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories.

Selection process

The selection process will be conducted in several stages.1. Physical Standard Test (PST)The Physical Standard Test (PST) will check height and chest measurements. Only candidates who meet the required standards will move to the next stage. 2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) includes events such as:For male candidates

  • High jump
  • Long jump
  • 1500 metre run
  • 100 metre run

For female candidates

  • High jump
  • Long jump
  • 800 metre run
  • 100 metre run

Candidates who fail any event will be disqualified from further stages.3. Written test and meritShortlisted candidates will appear for a written test of 50 marks. The exam will include questions from:

  • Hindi and English
  • Mathematics
  • General Knowledge related to Himachal Pradesh

The exam duration will be one hour.Final selection will be based on the combined marks of Stage III evaluation, followed by medical examination and verification of documents.

Application fee

All candidates must pay an application fee of ₹200 through online payment methods such as debit card, credit card or UPI.

Salary

Home Guard volunteers will receive remuneration when they are called for duty, as fixed by the state government. At present, the payment is ₹877 per day.

  3. Click on New Registration and create a profile through One Time Registration (OTR).
  4. Log in and fill out the online application form.

  6. Submit the form and keep a copy for future reference.
