Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board recruitment opens for Assistant Environmental Engineer and Assistant Scientific Officer 2026

The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has announced the commencement of online applications for temporary posts of Assistant Environmental Engineer and Assistant Scientific Officer. A total of 40 posts are available, including 26 for Assistant Environmental Engineer and 14 for Assistant Scientific Officer. Candidates from across India can apply through the dedicated online portal starting February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM. The registration and application process will close on March 28, 2026, at 6:00 PM.The recruitment is for Pay Matrix Level-10 and includes category-wise distribution of vacancies. For Assistant Environmental Engineer, 11 posts are unreserved, seven are for Other Backward Classes (OBC), six for Scheduled Castes (SC), and two for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). No posts are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST). For Assistant Scientific Officer, six posts are unreserved, four for OBC, three for SC, and one for EWS. Horizontal reservations will apply as per government regulations.Guidelines for online applicationApplications will be accepted exclusively through the UPPCB online portal. Candidates must follow instructions carefully, as incomplete or incorrect submissions may be rejected. After submission, applicants should print a copy of the form for future reference. All entries in the submitted form, including name, post applied, caste, date of birth, and contact details, will be final. The portal will also provide Admit Cards and updates regarding the examination schedule.The application fee varies by category: ?2,000 for unreserved and OBC candidates, ?1,000 for SC and ST, while persons with disabilities are exempt. Fees must be paid via the online gateway; other modes of payment will not be accepted. Candidates may submit a second application within the deadline to correct information, with a fresh fee payment.Eligibility and selection processAssistant Environmental Engineer candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering, or equivalent qualifications recognised by the government. Assistant Scientific Officer applicants require a Doctorate with three years’ experience, or a Master’s degree with five years’ experience, in Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, or Biochemistry. Age limits range from 21 to 40 years, with relaxations for SC, ST, OBC, ex-servicemen, state government employees, and persons with disabilities.Selection involves a Computer Based Test (CBT) of 400 marks, covering relevant subjects and general aptitude, followed by an interview worth 70 marks. Candidates must provide original documents at the interview stage. The total selection score is 470 marks. UPPCB reserves the right to allot examination centres and cancel candidature in case of misconduct or ineligibility.
