An Indian-origin software engineer from Hyderabad was killed in a road accident in the US state of New Jersey just days before she was due to travel to India, according to reports.Sripathi Deepa Reddy, 42, originally from Aakuthotapalli village in Telangana’s Rangareddy district, had been living in the United States with her husband, Ramakrishna Reddy, since 2008. The couple, both software professionals, have two daughters.The crash occurred while Deepa was driving her husband to a metro station. According to preliminary information, another vehicle collided with her car, causing fatal injuries. She died at the scene. Local police have taken the other driver into custody and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Family’s India visit cut short

Deepa was scheduled to fly to India within the next two days, making the tragedy even more devastating for her family. Relatives said the visit had already been planned before the accident occurred.Her family home is located in Teachers Colony, Hastinapuram, in Hyderabad.

Investigation underway

A video circulating on social media, which has not been independently verified, purportedly shows the aftermath of the crash. Filmed from a passing vehicle, it captures police personnel at the scene along with two heavily damaged cars parked on the roadside.Investigation is underway.
