KEA extends document verification deadline

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has extended the document verification deadline for candidates appearing in the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) 2026, also known as the Undergraduate Common Entrance Test (UGCET) 2026.According to the official notification, candidates whose “Claims Certificate” status is showing as “Not Verified” must complete the document verification process on or before May 21, 2026.To complete the verification process, candidates have been asked to visit their nearest Government Pre-University (PU) college and submit all the required original documents.KEA has clarified that students whose school and academic details were already verified through the SATS number during the online registration process do not need to verify those records again if their status shows “Successfully Verified.”However, candidates applying under reservation categories must complete verification if their certificate status is still marked as “Not Verified.” These categories include:

  • Kannada medium education from Class 1 to 10
  • Rural quota
  • Linguistic minority quota
  • Religious minority quota

The authority said that some candidates have still not completed the verification process despite previous instructions.Calling it the final opportunity, KEA advised candidates to complete the process without delay. The authority also stated that no further extension is likely to be provided after the deadline.

What is KCET?

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is a state-level entrance examination conducted by KEA for admission to first-year undergraduate professional courses in Karnataka.Through KCET, students can seek admission to courses such as:

  • Engineering
  • Pharmacy
  • Architecture
  • Agriculture
  • Veterinary sciences

Admissions are offered in government as well as participating private colleges across the state.
