The ‘Always Something There to Remind Me’ is best known for co-founding the synth-pop band Naked Eyes. The Rolling Stone reported that Jim Merlis, a spokesperson for the group, confirmed his passing. He added that he left for his heavenly abode “peacefully … after a brief illness.” No details about the singer’s specific cause of death have been revealed to the public.

Peter Byrne was born on June 9, 1952, and was best credited for being one of the co-founding members of Naked Eyes. He started the group with his college friend, Rob Fisher, in 1982, the same year when they both scored record deals. They had initially started their career together with the band Neon, Neon, which included future Tears for Fears members Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith.Their debut album, ‘Burning Bridges,’ was a big hit at the time of its release and even reached No. 32 on the Billboard Top 200 music charts. In 1984, they released their sophomore album, ‘Fuel for the Fire,’ which was another major hit and helped them gain critical acclaim. The band, however, disbanded soon after the release of their second and final album together.For his solo career, he went on to provide backing vocals for one of Stevie Wonder’s most popular songs, ‘Part-Time Lover.’ Other than that, he also extensively worked as a songwriter for film, television, and the Olsen twins. He continued to work on his solo music and career, and in 2001, he released his debut solo album, ‘The Real Illusion.’ This was followed by 2007’s ‘Fumbling With the Covers’ and 2021’s ‘Disguise the Limit.‘ A year later, he even released the remastered version of his and Fisher’s debut album with Naked Eyes.Byrne is survived by his siblings Eileen, Sandy, Carol, and Steve; his three children, Merlin, Dylan, and Chloe; and his ex-wife, Elena.
