While reflecting on the famous “Gird your loins” dialogue, Stanley Tucci revealed that the line was never originally part of the script and was added during filming.

Stanley Tucci recently spoke about the iconic “Gird your loins” line from ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and shared how it came into existence. According to PEOPLE, the actor discussed the memorable moment during an event in Italy while speaking with Josh Horowitz.When asked, “When you first read in the script, the words, ‘gird your loins,’ do you have questions? Do you say, ‘Yeah, this works. I can make this work?’”, Tucci clarified that the line was never in the original screenplay.He said, “Well, here’s the thing, that was not in the script. It was [director and producer David Frankel], we came up with a list of things to say — mine would have changed the rating of the film. But David came up with ‘gird your loins.’ And it was perfect, perfect. He’s brilliant.”The line was delivered by Tucci’s character Nigel in the film while preparing the employees at Runway magazine for the arrival of Miranda Priestly. Tucci also joked about how the dialogue has stayed with him over the years. “Yeah, it’s going to be on my tombstone,” the actor quipped.
