With the UGC NET June 2026 examination set to start on June 22, the National Testing Agency has outlined key instructions for candidates. The agency has specified reporting times, required documents and items banned inside examination halls. Aspirants seeking JRF, Assistant Professor eligibility and PhD admission have been urged to review their admit cards carefully before the test.

UGC NET June 2026 Exam: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will commence the UGC NET June 2026 examination from June 22. The national-level eligibility test will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode until June 30 for candidates aspiring to qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor positions and PhD admissions.Candidates scheduled to appear for the examination have been advised to download their admit cards and verify all details, including the examination date, reporting time, shift and allotted examination centre. The agency has also asked candidates to carefully read the instructions mentioned on the hall ticket before arriving at the test centre.

UGC NET June 2026 exam timings

The UGC NET June 2026 examination will be conducted in two shifts every day during the examination period. The first shift will be held from 9 am to 12 noon, while the second shift will take place from 3 pm to 6 pm.In order to prevent any sort of inconvenience at the last minute, candidates have been told to report to their respective examination centres at least two hours prior to the start of the examination.

Required documents for UGC NET June 2026 examination centre

NTA has issued the list of documents which candidates need to carry to the examination hall. Candidates will be required to carry their UGC NET June 2026 admit card in a printed form along with one original identity document carrying photograph. Identity documents include Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID Card, and Driving Licence.In addition, candidates should carry a passport-size photograph, preferably the same as the one uploaded during the application process. Candidates belonging to the PwD/PwBD category must also carry the relevant disability certificate, wherever applicable.The testing agency has clarified that no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall without a valid admit card and photo identity proof.

UGC NET June 2026: List of prohibited items

Candidates have been strictly prohibited from carrying electronic gadgets and other unauthorised materials into the examination hall.Mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, earphones and similar electronic items are not permitted inside the test centre. Candidates must also avoid carrying written notes, books, printed material, bags, purses, wallets or any communication and storage devices.According to NTA guidelines, candidates found in possession of prohibited items may face cancellation of candidature and disciplinary action.

UGC NET June 2026 exam pattern

The UGC NET June 2026 examination will be conducted in a single three-hour session without any break. The test comprises two papers conducted together. Paper I is designed to assess candidates’ teaching and research aptitude, while Paper II evaluates subject-specific knowledge based on the discipline chosen by the candidate.The examination consists entirely of objective-type multiple-choice questions and carries a total of 300 marks.

No negative marking in UGC NET June 2026

The lack of negative marking in the UGC NET exam is one of the important aspects of the exam. Candidates will not be penalized for any incorrect answer. Hence, the candidate can attempt all the questions.Since the exam is scheduled to start from June 22, it is advisable for the candidates to adhere to all instructions, bring the necessary documents, and reach the center prior to the stipulated time.
