India’s flex-fuel two-wheeler segment has started gaining momentum. A couple of months back, there was only one motorcycle in this segment and now we have four. Hero MotoCorp introduced the Splendor+ Flex Fuel in June, while Yamaha recently entered the space with the FZ Blue Flex. Both motorcycles are capable of running on ethanol-blended fuel ranging from E20 to E85. Here’s a look at how the two stack up in terms of price, engine, features and more.

The Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel was launched on June 3, 2026, at an ex-showroom price of Rs 82,710. Yamaha followed on July 10 with the FZ Blue Flex, priced at Rs 1,24,240, ex-showroom. Hero also announced a limited-period discount of Rs 4,000, bringing the effective price of the Splendor+ Flex Fuel down to Rs 78,710.

Under the bodywork, both motorcycles retain their familiar engines but have been re-engineered to support higher ethanol blends. The Splendor+ Flex Fuel uses a 97.2cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine paired with a 4-speed gearbox. Running on E85, it produces around 8.6 PS and 8.3 Nm of torque. Hero says it has modified more than 36 components, including the fuel pump, ECU calibration, seals and fuel lines, to ensure compatibility with ethanol-rich fuel.The Yamaha FZ Blue Flex, on the other hand, is powered by a 149cc air-cooled, fuel-injected engine mated to a 5-speed gearbox. It develops 11.7 PS of power and 12.8 Nm of torque while supporting fuel blends from E20 to E85.

When it comes to features, the Yamaha offers a more premium package. It comes with a full-LED projector headlamp, LED tail lamp, digital instrument console, single-channel ABS, silent starter and telescopic front suspension. The Hero Splendor+ Flex Fuel sticks to its commuter-focused approach. It features a digi-analogue instrument cluster, Hero’s i3S idle stop-start system, side-stand engine cut-off, tubeless tyres and drum brakes at both ends. Cosmetic changes are limited to new graphics that distinguish it from the standard Splendor+.
